Filipino Gundam enthusiast Mark Mediavillo bagged the first place prize at the GunPla Builders World Cup 2017 Finals held last December 17 in Tokyo, Japan.
His entry “Enemy Spotted” bested entries from fifteen countries, including last year’s champion Japan, in the competition’s Open Course category.
“I want to challenge and defeat the last year’s champion in a battle… the angel, Graze ein Custom: Balawis. Then I came up with an idea of combining 4 1/100 full mechanics kits and I changed him the devil, Gundam Barbatos: Ruh Hastasi Rex.” Mediavillo’s comment about his work.
Hong Kong’s Lui Chun with FRX-300 Gundam Leonidas took runner-up place while China’s Wu Xiao Hui with his entry Sadness in the Pain Felt bagged third place. Japan bagged first place in the junior category.
Prior to this year’s contest, Mediavillo was also the Philippines representative in the last year’s GunPla Builders World Cup. His entry was titled Graze Ein Custom: Balawin, which is a mash-up of 4 main gundam unit of gundam wing series.
