First trailer for Makoto Shinkai’s new film ‘Tenki no ko’ released

The first teaser trailer for Makoto Shinkai’s new anime film, ‘Tenki no ko’ (Weathering With You) has been released.

The trailer previews the two main characters: Hodaka and Hina, several realistic skyscraper scenes and the film’s theme song. The song is titled ‘Ai ni Dekiru Koto wa Mada Aru Kai‘ and it is performed by Japanese rock band Radwimps.

The film revolves around a high school student named Hodaka, who find a job in Tokyo as a writer for a shady occult magazine. He meets a young woman named Hina, who has the power to manipulate the weather.

Tenki no ko‘ is set o premiere this July in Japan and it was reported that a worldwide release for the film has been planned. It includes North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Makoto Shinkai is widely known for directing the highest-grossing anime film of all time, ‘Kimi no Na wa,’ which previously released in local cinemas in 2016. He also directed some famous anime films such as The Garden of Words and 5 Centimeters per Second.
