MNL48 girls to star in Japanese film ‘Seikimatsu Blue’

Members of the Filipino idol group MNL48 will be starring in a Japanese film named ‘Seikimatsu Blue’ according to film’s official website.

MNL48 member Abby Trinidad will be playing the protagonist in the live action film adaptation of the supernatural manga series .

“Bukod po sa singing and dancing, forte ko po talaga ang acting kaya sobrang natutuwa po ako. Sobrang laking blessing siya, kaya mas china-challenge ko po ‘yung sarili ko kasi we’re representing the group, kailangan namin gawin talaga ang best namin,” Abby said.

This is Abby’s first international acting project and first leading role in a Japanese film.

Joining her in the film are other idol group members: Coleen Trinidad, Brei Binuya and Kay Ishiyama.

It was unveiled that the girls need to speak in fluent Nihonggo for film.

Based from a manga series by Hirota Shintaro, ‘Seikimatsu Blue’ tells the story of Kousaka, a normal girl student and her encounters with a strange-shaped monster called “Daiou.”

The film will be directed by Tetsuya Hashi, who also directed their ‘Sakura No Hanabiratachi’ music video. The production will start in June in Japan and it is set to be out in an independent film festival in the Philippines this December.
