Japanese film “Come on Irene” to be shown in PH

The live action film adaptation of 1990s manga series Come on Irene (Itoshi no Irene) will hit Philippine cinemas in July.

On its Facebook page, Viva International Pictures announced that the film will be release in local cinemas nationwide on July 31.

Come on Irene is based on a 1990s manga series created by Hideki Arai. Directed by Keisuke Yoshida, it starred Pinay actress Nats Sitoy and Ken Yasuda.

It tells a story about 40-year old Iwao Shishido, who suddenly leaves his rural village. He, then returns with a foreign bride during his father’s funeral.

The film was released in Japan in 2018. It was previously screened at the QCinema International Film Festival in the same year.
