Japanese discount store Don Quijote announces plans to open in PH

Japanese discount store chain Don Quijote announced their plans to expand further overseas by launching new stores in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The announcement was made during the launch of the Donki Mall Thonglor shopping complex in Bangkok, Thailand early this year.

Koji Ohara, president and CEO of chain store operator, Pan Pacific International Holdings said the company aims to increase the number of overseas stores to 200 from 41.

Don Quijote currently has more than 300 stores located throughout Japan. This is apart from the overseas branches in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Hawaii.

Referred for its shortened name ‘Donki‘, the store is popularly known for its wide selection of discounted goods and its distinctive song titled ‘Miracle Shopping’.
