Netflix releases teaser, cast of live-action ‘Ghostfighter’

Netflix recently released a new teaser poster for the upcoming live-action adaptation of ‘Yu Yu Hakusho,’ widely known locally as Ghosfighter.

The poster features four panels showing things that the main characters are known for like Eugene’s ray gun, Dennis’ rose, Vincent’s bandages, and Alfred’s blue uniform.

The streaming giant also announced the cast members who will be playing Yusuke Urameshi (Eugene) and Kurama (Dennis). They are Takumi Kitamura and Jun Shison, respectively.

Takumi starred in the lead role in several Japanese films such as Tokyo Revengers and Let Me Eat Your Pancreas while Jun Shison appeared in the live-action drama series Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and The Way of the Househusband.

“Yu Yu Hakusho” is based on a manga series of the same name. It was written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

It tells the story of Yusuke (known by Filipinos as Eugene), a teenage delinquent who is struck and killed by a car while attempting to save a child’s life. Yusuke is granted a second chance to return from the dead, in return, he must take on the job as a Spirit Detective.

The series was shown locally in the 90s.
