Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy and The Heron” is coming to PH this Nov 29

Hayao Miyazaki’s highly anticipated latest feature, “The Boy and The Heron,” will hit Philippine theaters on November 29.

Encore Films, a Singapore-based distributor, recently announced this release in their November lineup of Japanese animated and live-action films. The film follows the exclusive showings of “The Tunnel to Summer, The Exit of Goodbyes” on November 1 and “City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust” on November 8 at SM Cinemas. It also follows the “Tokyo MER: Mobile Emergency Room” screening on November 22 at Ayala Malls.

“The Boy and The Heron” opened for a remarkable 1.83 billion Japanese yen or approximately P693 million during its debut weekend, marking the most successful opening for Studio Ghibli. Originally titled “Kimitachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?)”, it premiered on July 14 in Japan.

The film follows the journey of Mahito, a young boy who embarks on a magical adventure with a talking gray heron, unlocking a world where death transitions into new beginnings.
