The Japan Foundation, Manila has officially launched the JFF Theater, an innovative and free online streaming platform showcasing a variety of Japanese films and TV shows. This initiative aims to foster cultural exchange between Japan and the world by providing easy access to Japanese media content.
JFF Theater offers users cost-free access to its content after a simple registration process, opening up a world of diverse Japanese films, dramas, and art-related works. The platform ensures a dynamic and engaging viewing experience with frequent updates and new titles. Furthermore, all films and shows come with multilingual subtitle support, broadening accessibility to a global audience.
At its launch, JFF Theater features five films designed to provide a taste of the platform’s offerings. These include the lighthearted and inspiring films “It’s a Summer Film!” (2021) and “Happy Flight” (2008), as well as documentaries like “SUMODO: The Successors of Samurai” (2020) and “Tora-san in Goto” (2016), which offer glimpses into real Japanese life. Additionally, anime enthusiasts can enjoy “Time of EVE the Movie” (2010).
According to Yojiro Tanaka, JFF’s festival director, the JFF Theater builds on the success of the onsite Japanese Film Festival, allowing more people to enjoy Japanese films, TV dramas, and other content conveniently and freely.
