Studio Ghibli films to screen for free on Nov 16 & 17

In honor of acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, a special free film festival called “The Studio Ghibli Weekend” will take place on November 16-17 at Shangri-la Plaza’s Red Carpet Cinema.

Miyazaki, who co-founded Studio Ghibli, is known for movies that explore themes like nature, peace, and the human spirit, and he is being awarded the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award for his contributions to animated film.

The Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM), in partnership with the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation and mm2 Entertainment, will present six of Miyazaki’s most beloved films, including Spirited Away, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea.

Admission to the screenings is free. Tickets can be reserved online starting November 4 at 12 noon through this link. Seats are limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early. Walk-in guests will be seated if space allows. Note that reselling tickets is prohibited.

For the full schedule and more information, visit The Japan Foundation, Manila website or check their social media.

This event is supported by the Shangri-la Plaza Red Carpet Cinema, Fully Booked, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines, with mm2 Entertainment distributing Studio Ghibli films in the Philippines.
