Japanese anisong duo angela, composed of vocalist Atsuko and guitarist-arranger Katsu, captivated Filipino fans with a high-energy performance at Cosplay Mania 2025 held on October 5 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Known for their distinctive blend of rock, electronica, jazz, and ska, the pair showcased their powerful stage presence and musical versatility throughout their set. The performance featured some of their most popular songs, including “Shangri-La,” “KINGS,” “シドニア (Sidonia),” and “僕じゃない (Boku ja Nai)”, which drew loud cheers and singalongs from the packed audience.
In an interview, angela shared that they begin each concert with a handshake and cheer as a ritual to boost energy and keep a friendly atmosphere on stage. Outside of music, Katsu finds inspiration while driving and is a certified rescue driver.
Among the many anime themes they have performed, the duo cited “Shangri-La,” the opening theme of Soukyuu no Fafner, as the song closest to their hearts. They also mentioned plans to explore new directions by incorporating traditional music from different countries into future anisong projects.
Influenced by international artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Billy Joel, angela continues to evolve their sound while maintaining a strong connection with fans. Showing their playful side, the duo joked about wanting to work at Jollibee someday, a nod to their fondness for Filipino culture.
