‘Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu’ film to premiere on Netflix worldwide

Netflix announced on Thursday that the upcoming anime film ‘Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu’ will premiere on the streaming site starting June 18, worldwide.

The announcement was made after the release of the film in Japan was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was originally scheduled to open on June 5.

The streaming giant has yet to announced if the film will be released in dubbed and subbed on Netflix.

Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu, also known in English as ‘A Whisker Away’ centers on Miyo Sasaki, a second-year junior high student who has fallen in with her classmate Kento Hinote. Despite her repeated efforts to get Kento’s attention, he takes no notice of her and her only way to get close to him is to transform into a cat.

Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama are co-directing the film with Mari Okada writing the script. Okada wrote the script for Anohana.

The film is produced by Studio Colorido. Their latest works include Penguin Highway, Burn the Witch and Pokemon: Twilight Wings (ONA).
