Philippine idol group MNL48 has released their second single entitled “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie,” the local version of the hit song“Koisuru Fortune Cookie” performed by Japan’s highest selling all-girl idol group, AKB48.
During the Aitakatta – Gustong Makita Handshake Event at Movie Stars Cafe last Sunday, MNL48 introduced its new Senbatsu members for the latest single, which includes Brei, Belle, Coleen, Rans, Lei, Mari, Jan and Kay
They performed together with Faith, Alyssa, Jem, Gabb, Sela, Abby and Sheki who remains to be the Center Girl. The new Senbatsu members were carefully selected through an audition process following the AKB48 system wherein each new single, a new batch of 16 members will perform the song.
MNL48 also previewed the music video for “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie” followed by a live performance of their newest single. The music video is now uploaded on their Youtube channel.
Their second album consists of six tracks namely, “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie” performed by MNL48 Senbatsu, “Palusot ko’y Maybe” by Team NIV, “First Rabbit” again by MNL48 Senbatsu, and its instrumental versions.
Other international sister groups such as BNK48 from Thailand and JKT48 from Indonesia) also created their own version of the song, released in 2017 and 2013, respectively. Both versions were a hit and gained success in their respective countries. With the success of their sister groups’ version of Fortune Cookie, the MNL48 idols are hoping for their newest single to be a big hit to their fans and to Filipinos as well.
Fans can now pre-order the MNL 48’s second single at www.mnl48.ph for only Php250 starting November 25. It includes one free handshake ticket and poster. Additional ticket for the handshake event will be included if fans pre-order now.
The single is set to release on the first week of December 2018.
