Kentaro Miura, creator of “Berserk” manga passes away at 54

Kentaro Miura, the creator of the dark fantasy manga series “Berserk” has passed away at the age of 54.

The announcement was made on Thursday by manga publisher Hakukensha via the @berserk_project Twitter account. According to the post, Miura died on May 6 due to acute aortic dissection.

Miura was best known for his best-selling dark fantasy manga Berserk, which began at Hakusensha’s Monthly Animal House magazine in 1989.

It follows the story of Guts, a lone mercenary on a journey for revenge against Griffith, his former master and current leader of a mercenary army known as the “Band of the Hawk.”

The manga has inspired an anime series, which began in 1997, as well as a film trilogy from 2012 to 2013.
