The Boy and The Heron film gets Fan Screening Event on Jan 6

Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki fans are in for a treat as Encore Films Philippines and Warner Bros. bring the original Japanese and English-dubbed versions of The Boy and The Heron to local screens nationwide on January 8.

The Boy and The Heron is the latest animated film by the legendary director Miyazaki, widely regarded as the greatest animator alive. The film has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and has won several awards for Best Animated Film from various film organizations. It has also been nominated for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Score by The Golden Globe and Best Animated Feature by the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

The film tells the whimsical tale of Mahito Maki, a boy who moves into a new town after the tragic death of his mother. Led on by a mysterious grey heron, he finds an abandoned tower and enters the fantastical world that awaits him inside.

The film features a stellar voice cast, including Luca Padovan, Robert Pattinson, Christian Bale, Florence Pugh, Karen Fukuhara, Willem Dafoe, and Dave Bautista for the English version, and Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda, Ko Shibasaki, Aimyon, Kaoru Kobayashi, and Jun Kunimura for the Japanese version.

Before the film’s official release, fans can catch an advanced fan screening event on Saturday, January 6 at SM Megamall Cinema 2 at 7:00 pm. The tickets are priced at P1,200 and come with a special set of desk calendars, a collectible ticket, and a mini-poster. Fans can check SM Cinemas’ website to buy their tickets.
