Live-Action “Gintama” movie release date moved a week earlier

The live-action hit movie Gintama will be shown in Philippine cinemas a week early from its initial release date of August 30.

According to Viewers’ Choice Philippines, the early release of the movie was due to public demand. The movie is scheduled to premiere on August 23 in cinemas nationwide.

Based on the popular manga series of the same name by Hideaki Sorachi, the live-action film opened in Japanese theaters last July 14.

Japanese actor Shun Oguri plays the protagonist Gintoki Sakata, who run the Yorozuya shop. Yuichi Fukuda from the live-action Hentai Kamen film directed the movie.

UVERworld performed the film’s theme song titled Decided.

According to ARAMA Japan, the movie has sold more than 1.3 million tickets and earned 1.78 billion yen since its release in Japan.
