Aniplex unveiled during the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 a new trailer for the new Rurouni Kenshin anime series. Cast and staff were also announced.
Hideyo Yamamoto is the director of the series with Terumi Nishii as the character designer, Hideyuki Kurata as the series composer, and Yu Takami as the music composer.
The cast includes Soma Saito as the titular character Kenshin Himura and Rie Takahashi as Kaoru Kamiya.
It was also announced that it will premiere in 2023. The new series is a remake of the original Rurouni Kenshin hit series. The last Rurouni Kenshin anime released was in 2011 with the two-episode OVA titled Rurouni Kenshin: New Kyoto Arc.
Rurouni Kenshin is based on the original manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. Currently, the series has over 73 million copies in circulation globally. It inspired an anime series, several OVAs, games, stage shows, video games, and six live-action films.
