Jurina Matsui to lead AKB48’s Malaysian Sister Group KLP48 as Player Manager

Jurina Matsui, former member of AKB48 and SKE48, will take on the role of player manager for AKB48’s first sister group in Malaysia, KLP48.

KLP48, AKB48’s newest sister group, was announced on January 1, 2024, and is set to debut in August 2024. Jurina Matsui, the only person to have won the International Senbatsu General Election, will bring her extensive experience to the group. Matsui, who joined AKB48 at 11 years old, has remained a central figure in the group’s history until her graduation in 2021.
